Forbes – 12/27/13: This morning Target confirmed that contrary to their previous announcement, encrypted PIN data was in fact removed during the massive data breach that occurred between Black Friday and December 15th. This data breach stole the credit or debit card numbers, the card’s expiration date and CVV codes of over 40 million customers who shopped at Target over the holidays. This data is already appearing for sale on the black market, and as a result some financial institutions have started to reissue debit cards and put limits on how much customers can withdraw from ATMs and spend at stores.
