The Next Web – 10/7/14: Square has updated its Cash payments app for iOS with the option to send or request money from nearby friends over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). In the past, customers in the US had to initiate a transfer using an email or text message. The former initially felt antiquated, as it needed to copy in either cash@square.com or request@square.com to help the company process transactions.
