Supermarket chain Kroger is set to expand its self-checkout service to 400 stores in 2018, according to a report from the Cincinnati Business Courier. Kroger’s Scan, Bag, Go service is similar to Walmart’s effort in that it enables shoppers to scan items via a store-provided scanner or a dedicated smartphone app, and then pay for groceries at a self-checkout station, according to the report. At the moment, more than 25 locations feature the service.
